Dr. Anil Agarwal, department of Civil Engineering and his industrial collaborator Mr. Srinivas Aluri have been jointly awarded the Young Turk of Composites Award 2019-20. The award was given during the National Conference on Recent Advances in Composites (Mar 31-Feb 1, 2020) organized by the FRP Institute, Chennai and TAACMA (Telangana and Andhra Composites Manufacturers Association). They received this award for developing the prototype of a lightweight, portable, assembled-in-place bridge. The bridge can be launched in a few minutes and can provide quick access to areas affected by natural disasters such as landslides, floods, and earthquakes, etc.
IITHyderabad Researchers T. Appidi, R. Srivastava, Tejaswini Appidi, Deepak Bharadwaj and Dr. Arvind Rengan won the Best Poster Award at the 14th IEEE Nanotechnology Materials and Devices Conference held at Stockholm, Sweden, for their work titled ‘Optical Properties of Plasmonic Gold - An application for diagnosis of cervical cancer’.
Mr. Mamidi Suresh has won the First Prize ( US$ 700) in ‘NanoArtography,’ an international Science Image Competition. He is guided by Dr. Chandra Shekhar Sharma, Associate Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT Hyderabad. Ms. Ankita Kolay was among the winners of ‘Metrohm Young Chemist Award’ presented by Metrohm Group, Switzerland, and IITBombay. This contest is a privileged platform for young aspiring minds in the scientific fraternity to present their research work to the distinguished Jury panel at IIT Bombay.
