Deepu J. Babu holds a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Kerala University and master’s degree in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from IIT Madras. Later he joined the research group of Prof. Joerg J. Schneider at TU Darmstadt, Germany and earned his Ph.D. in 2016 investigating the gas adsorption characteristics of carbon nanomaterials. After a one year postdoc in the same group, he moved to the research group of Prof. Kumar V. Agrawal at École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland. At the Laboratory of Advanced Seperations (LAS), he worked on the possible use of MOF and graphene-based membranes for carbon capture applications. Since October 2020, he is an assistant professor in the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering at IIT Hyderabad.
