Laboratory of Biophysical Chemistry and Spectroscopy (LBCS)

More info

"PhD positions are open !! Highly motivated candidates with valid CSIR/UGC-JRF can contact us anytime in the year."

Main objective of our research group (LBCS) is to investigate chemical and biological macromolecular systems using spectroscopic, microscopic and computational methods. We use fluorescence based steady state and time resolved spectroscopy and microscopy techniques to understand interactions between key biomolecules such as proteins, DNA and RNA.

Our research objectives include;

  • Excited state photophysics of molecules, dyes and drugs.
  • Structural and conformational dynamics of biomolecules, DNA/RNA/protein.
  • Ultrafast dynamics of molecules in chemical and biological confined environments.
  • Understanding the mechanism of epigenetic modifications on DNA and RNA.
  • Exploring Luminescence behavior of nanomaterials such as CDs, QDs and GOs.
  • Investigation of biomolecular interactions with nanomaterials.
