Welcome to the Nanophotonics Lab at the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad. Our research efforts are broadly in the area of Nanophotonics: the science of interaction of light and matter at the nanoscale to enable on-chip devices. We are interested in exploring novel phenomena in nano and micro-scale optics and semiconductors for next generation computing, renewable energy and environmental sensing.

Current research directions in our group
Our research interest lies at the intersection of photonics, semiconductor devices, material science and nanotechnology. We are interested in applying developments in these disciplines to advance the frontiers of Nanophotonics and it’s applications. Our ultimate goal is to evolve into a world-class research group, which will address the challenges at the frontiers of engineering and technology, while also innovating to address specific needs in the Indian society. Some of the broad themes that we are currently working are outlined below:
In this project we are exploring methods to improve gain in Semiconductor Nanostructures, and using a combination of gain and loss to investigate PT symmetric nanoantenna arrays.

Information on joining us and other academic matters
We are always on the lookout for motivated students interested in pursuing research in our group. If you think you are a good fit please read the following guidelines
Please go through the research and recent publication sections carefully. You may not understand the details of the work but it will give you a sense of the type of the work we do. IITH faculty receive a large number of emails from prospective students, and it is not possible to respond to generic emails. Please state briefly your previous education, research/project experience and why you are interested in this work. A well-crafted email will improve your chances of getting a response.
If our research seems to be of interest to you, and you would like to do your project/thesis in our group, please think about the following:
Letters of recommendation are an integral part of an academic career. I will be happy to write letters of recommendation if you meet the following criteria:
